Copyrights and Licensing Policy

Indonesian Journal of Policing and Security Studies, published by COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA, is committed to protecting authors' intellectual property rights while facilitating broad and responsible dissemination of scholarly research.

The journal operates under an Open Access publishing model and applies transparent copyright and licensing arrangements to all articles published in the journal.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their original scholarly work published in Indonesian Journal of Policing and Security Studies.

Publication in the journal does not require authors to transfer ownership of copyright to COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA.

Authors remain the copyright holders of their articles, subject to the rights granted to the journal for publication, distribution, preservation, and dissemination.

2. License to Publish

By accepting an article for publication, authors grant Indonesian Journal of Policing and Security Studies and its publisher, COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA, a non-exclusive right and license to:

• Publish the article;

• Reproduce and distribute the article;

• Make the article publicly available online;

• Display and communicate the article through the journal's publishing platform;

• Assign and display bibliographic metadata and DOI information;

• Archive and preserve the article;

• Include the article in indexing, abstracting, repository, and scholarly dissemination services; and

• Undertake other activities reasonably necessary to operate and preserve the journal.

This license does not transfer ownership of copyright from the authors to the publisher.

3. Creative Commons License

Unless otherwise stated, all published articles are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users may:

• Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

• Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material; and

• Use the material for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

These rights are granted provided that appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is provided, and any modifications are indicated.

The full terms of the applicable license are incorporated into the publication of each article.

4. Attribution Requirements

Any person or organization reusing material published under the CC BY 4.0 license should provide appropriate attribution.

Attribution should normally include:

• The name(s) of the author(s);

• The title of the article;

• The journal title;

• Publication year;

• DOI or other persistent identifier, where available;

• A link to the original publication; and

• A link to the applicable Creative Commons license.

Where material has been modified, translated, adapted, or otherwise changed, the user should clearly indicate that changes were made.

5. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for identifying material contained in their manuscripts that is owned by third parties.

Third-party material may include:

• Photographs;

• Illustrations;

• Figures;

• Tables;

• Maps;

• Datasets;

• Extensive quotations;

• Reproduced instruments; or

• Other copyrighted material.

Where third-party material is not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license, the article should clearly indicate the applicable copyright or licensing conditions.

Authors must obtain appropriate permission where required before publication.

The journal and publisher are not responsible for unauthorized use of third-party copyrighted material supplied by authors.

6. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

• Share their published article;

• Deposit the published Version of Record in institutional and subject repositories;

• Include the article in a thesis or dissertation;

• Use the article for teaching and educational purposes;

• Present the article at academic conferences;

• Share the article with colleagues and research collaborators;

• Reuse the article in subsequent scholarly work with appropriate attribution;

• Use portions of the article in books or other scholarly publications, subject to the applicable license and third-party rights; and

• Make the published article publicly available in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license.

Authors are encouraged to use the official published version and DOI when sharing or citing their work.

7. Repository and Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the published Version of Record in:

• Institutional repositories;

• Subject repositories;

• National repositories;

• Research data and publication repositories;

• Academic or institutional websites; and

• Other appropriate scholarly platforms.

There is no embargo period for the deposit of the published Version of Record.

Repository copies should retain the original citation information and DOI where available.

8. Copyright Notice

Published articles may carry a copyright and licensing notice substantially reflecting the following:

© [Year] The Author(s). Published by COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The specific copyright notice displayed on an article may be adjusted to reflect the applicable publication year and licensing arrangement.

9. Prior Publication and Author-Owned Material

Authors must disclose any substantial portions of the manuscript that have previously been published or are under consideration elsewhere.

If authors reuse material from their own previous publications, they must:

• Provide appropriate citation;

• Clearly identify the reused material where appropriate;

• Avoid presenting previously published material as original; and

• Obtain permission where required by the copyright terms of the previous publication.

The journal's Plagiarism Prevention Policy applies to inappropriate reuse of previously published material.

10. Copyright and Open Access

The journal's copyright policy supports its Open Access publishing model.

Copyright retention by authors does not restrict readers from accessing published articles.

Articles are freely available immediately upon publication and may be reused in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.

The journal does not impose an embargo on access to the Version of Record.

11. Copyright and Article Processing Charges

Payment of the Article Processing Charge does not constitute a purchase or transfer of copyright.

The APC covers publication-related services associated with the journal's Open Access publishing model.

Authors retain copyright regardless of whether the article is subject to the standard APC or an approved waiver or discount.

12. Copyright and Special Issues

Articles published in Special Issues are subject to the same copyright and licensing provisions as articles published in regular issues.

Unless otherwise explicitly stated, Special Issue articles:

• Remain under the copyright of their authors;

• Are published under the CC BY 4.0 license;

• Are immediately Open Access;

• May be deposited in repositories without an embargo; and

• Are subject to the same author-rights provisions.

Special Issue status does not result in a transfer of copyright to the Guest Editor or publisher.

13. Moral Rights and Attribution

Nothing in the journal's licensing arrangements is intended to remove or diminish authors' moral rights where such rights are recognized under applicable law.

Users of published material should not falsely attribute modified or derivative material to the original authors.

Any adaptation, translation, or modification should be clearly identified as such.

14. Commercial Reuse

The CC BY 4.0 license permits commercial reuse provided that the requirements of the license are satisfied.

Commercial users must provide appropriate attribution and comply with all applicable copyright and licensing conditions.

The permission for commercial reuse does not extend automatically to third-party materials contained in an article where those materials are subject to separate rights.

15. Permission and Copyright Queries

Questions concerning copyright, licensing, reuse, or third-party materials should be directed to the journal through its official communication channels.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for third-party materials before publication where such permissions are legally required.

The journal may request evidence of permission where necessary.

16. Copyright Infringement

The journal takes allegations of copyright infringement seriously.

Where a credible copyright concern is identified, the journal may:

• Request clarification from the authors;

• Request evidence of permission;

• Correct the published article;

• Remove or replace improperly reproduced material where appropriate;

• Publish an editorial notice;

• Temporarily restrict access to specific material where legally necessary; or

• Take other appropriate corrective action.

Where necessary, the journal may also cooperate with copyright holders and relevant institutions.

17. Post-Publication Changes

Copyright and licensing information remains associated with the published Version of Record.

Where an article requires a correction, retraction, or other post-publication notice, the applicable copyright and licensing information will normally remain visible to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

A retraction does not automatically remove the original article from the scholarly record. Instead, the article will normally remain accessible with a clear indication of its retracted status.

18. Publisher Rights

COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA retains the operational rights necessary to publish, distribute, preserve, archive, and maintain the journal and its published content.

These rights do not constitute ownership of the authors' copyright unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.

The publisher may also maintain journal-level trademarks, branding, logos, website content, and other materials that are separate from the copyright in individual articles.

19. Policy Transparency

The journal will clearly identify the applicable copyright holder and licensing terms on its website and, where appropriate, on each published article.

Authors are encouraged to review the applicable Creative Commons license before submitting manuscripts.

Any substantive changes to the Copyright and Licensing Policy will be communicated transparently through the journal's official website.

20. Policy Review

The Copyright and Licensing Policy may be periodically reviewed to ensure consistency with developments in:

• Open Access publishing;

• Copyright law;

• Creative Commons licensing;

• Digital repositories;

• Scholarly communication; and

• International publishing practices.

The journal will maintain transparent and publicly accessible information concerning its current copyright and licensing arrangements.
