Journal Policy

Indonesian Economic Justice Review (IEJR) is committed to publishing high-quality, original, and ethically sound scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of knowledge on economic justice, law, economics, and public policy in Indonesia and the broader Global South. The journal applies transparent editorial policies and internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing to ensure the integrity, quality, accessibility, and sustainability of the academic record.

1. Journal Ownership and Publisher

Indonesian Economic Justice Review is published by COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA. The publisher is responsible for providing the institutional, administrative, and technical support necessary for the sustainable operation of the journal while respecting the editorial independence of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board.

Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit and are not influenced by commercial, political, institutional, or personal interests.

2. Journal Focus and Scope

IEJR primarily focuses on economic justice, particularly the ways in which law, economic institutions, regulatory frameworks, and public policies influence the distribution of economic opportunities, resources, benefits, risks, and burdens.

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary and socio-legal research addressing, among other areas, taxation and fiscal justice, labor and employment, trade and investment, land and natural resources, financial and digital regulation, poverty and inequality, social protection, sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, economic rights, and the protection of vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Manuscripts must demonstrate a clear and substantive connection to the journal's focus and scope.

3. Publication Frequency

IEJR is published four times a year, in February, May, August, and November.

The journal may additionally publish Special Issues when justified by a significant scholarly theme, research agenda, conference, emerging issue, or other development relevant to the journal's scope.

Special Issues are subject to the same editorial, peer-review, publication-ethics, and quality standards as regular issues.

4. Types of Publications

IEJR accepts several types of scholarly contributions, provided that they meet the journal's focus, scholarly standards, and publication-ethics requirements.

4.1 Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present original theoretical, doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, comparative, or interdisciplinary research.

They should clearly articulate a research problem or question, engage with relevant literature, employ an appropriate methodology or analytical framework, present substantive analysis or findings, and demonstrate an original contribution to knowledge.

4.2 Review Articles

Review Articles provide a critical and systematic examination of existing scholarship on a significant issue within the journal's scope.

A review article should go beyond summarizing previous literature by identifying patterns, debates, theoretical developments, methodological gaps, contradictions, or future research directions.

4.3 Case Studies

Case Studies provide detailed and analytically rigorous examination of a particular legal, economic, institutional, policy, regulatory, community, or socioeconomic case.

Case studies should demonstrate broader scholarly significance and should contribute to understanding economic justice beyond merely describing an individual case.

4.4 Policy Analysis

Policy Analysis articles critically examine laws, regulations, government programs, institutional arrangements, or public policies and their implications for economic justice.

Such articles may evaluate policy effectiveness, distributional consequences, regulatory design, implementation, institutional performance, inequality, economic rights, or policy alternatives.

4.5 Conceptual and Theoretical Articles

The journal may consider Conceptual or Theoretical Articles that develop new concepts, analytical frameworks, theoretical arguments, or interdisciplinary approaches relevant to economic justice.

Such contributions must demonstrate substantial engagement with existing scholarship and offer a clear intellectual contribution.

4.6 Book Reviews

IEJR may publish critical reviews of recently published books that make significant contributions to law, economics, public policy, development, social justice, or related fields within the journal's scope.

Book reviews should provide analytical assessment rather than merely summarize the contents of the reviewed book.

4.7 Commentary and Scholarly Perspectives

The journal may publish concise and well-argued scholarly commentaries or perspectives on significant contemporary developments in law, economics, regulation, public policy, or economic justice.

Commentaries should provide substantive scholarly insight and should not function primarily as opinion pieces or political advocacy without academic analysis.

4.8 Special Issue Contributions

IEJR may publish articles as part of Special Issues organized around specific themes relevant to the journal's focus and scope.

Special Issue submissions are subject to the journal's standard editorial screening and peer-review requirements. Acceptance into a Special Issue is not guaranteed by invitation, conference participation, or submission through a Guest Editor.

5. Manuscript Originality

All submissions must be original and must not have been published previously in substantially the same form or be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

Authors must disclose any related publications, preprints, conference papers, working papers, theses, dissertations, book chapters, or other materials that substantially overlap with the submitted manuscript.

The journal may reject manuscripts that violate its originality requirements or take corrective action where problems are discovered after publication.

6. Peer Review Policy

IEJR applies a double-anonymous peer-review process.

Manuscripts are initially assessed by the editorial team for relevance, originality, scholarly quality, methodological appropriateness, and compliance with the journal's policies. Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment may be sent to independent reviewers.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on criteria including:

Relevance to the journal's focus and scope;
Originality and contribution to knowledge;
Theoretical and conceptual soundness;
Methodological rigor;
Quality and adequacy of evidence or analysis;
Clarity and coherence of argument;
Appropriate engagement with relevant literature;
Ethical compliance; and
Overall scholarly significance.

The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for the final editorial decision.

7. Editorial Decision-Making

Editorial decisions are based primarily on scholarly merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and compliance with publication ethics.

Possible decisions include:

Accept;
Accept subject to minor revisions;
Revise and resubmit/major revisions;
Reject with the possibility of resubmission; or
Reject.

A positive peer-review recommendation does not automatically guarantee acceptance. The final decision remains an editorial responsibility.

8. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship must reflect substantive intellectual contributions to the work.

All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission and publication.

Gift authorship, honorary authorship, ghost authorship, and exclusion of legitimate contributors are not permitted.

Changes to authorship after submission require appropriate justification and agreement from all affected authors.

9. Research and Publication Ethics

IEJR follows recognized principles of research and publication ethics, including the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, fraudulent authorship, manipulation of peer review, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Suspected misconduct may be investigated before or after publication.

10. Plagiarism Prevention

All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection or text-similarity software.

Similarity reports are treated as screening tools rather than automatic determinations of plagiarism. Editors assess the nature, extent, location, source, and context of identified similarities.

Where substantial plagiarism is identified, the journal may reject the manuscript or, in the case of a published article, issue a correction, Expression of Concern, or retraction as appropriate.

11. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, Guest Editors, and Editorial Board members must disclose financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence or reasonably be perceived to influence their judgment.

Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves where a conflict of interest could compromise impartiality.

12. Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose financial support or other funding associated with the research.

Where relevant, authors should describe the role of funders in research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and the decision to submit the work for publication.

13. Data and Research Transparency

Authors should maintain appropriate research records and provide sufficient methodological information to support scholarly assessment and, where ethically and legally permissible, verification of their research.

Where data cannot be publicly shared because of privacy, confidentiality, legal, ethical, or contractual restrictions, authors should provide an appropriate explanation.

14. Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Tools

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts.

AI tools may be used for appropriate purposes such as language assistance or technical support, subject to the journal's AI policy. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate evidence, sources, citations, research findings, or other scholarly material.

Reviewers and editors must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts and should not upload confidential manuscript content or unpublished materials into AI systems where doing so may compromise confidentiality or intellectual property.

15. Copyright and Licensing

All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The license permits users to share, copy, redistribute, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the published material for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given to the authors and the original source.

16. Open Access Policy

IEJR is an open-access journal. All published articles are freely and immediately accessible to readers without subscription or access fees.

The journal supports the broad dissemination and reuse of scholarly knowledge in accordance with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.

17. Article Processing Charges

The journal shall publicly state its Article Processing Charge (APC), submission fees, or other publication-related fees, if any.

Where no fees apply, the journal shall clearly state that authors are not required to pay submission or publication fees.

Editorial decisions are independent of any publication fees.

18. Corrections and Retractions

The journal maintains procedures for correcting, retracting, or expressing concern about published articles.

Corrections are issued when errors affect the accuracy or integrity of the published record but do not invalidate the principal findings.

Retractions may be issued where an article contains unreliable findings, serious methodological or ethical problems, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other circumstances that substantially undermine the integrity of the publication.

Expressions of Concern may be issued where serious concerns exist but available evidence is insufficient for immediate correction or retraction.

19. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions where they believe that a significant procedural error, misunderstanding, conflict of interest, or other substantive issue affected the decision.

Complaints concerning editorial conduct, peer review, publication ethics, authorship, conflicts of interest, or other journal processes may be submitted to the journal.

Complaints and appeals shall be handled fairly, confidentially, and as promptly as reasonably possible.

20. Special Issues Policy

IEJR may publish Special Issues devoted to significant or emerging topics within its focus and scope.

Special Issue proposals may be initiated by the Editorial Board, Guest Editors, academic institutions, research networks, conferences, or qualified scholars.

All Special Issue manuscripts must undergo the journal's standard editorial screening and peer-review process. Guest Editors do not have authority to guarantee acceptance or bypass the journal's review procedures.

The journal reserves the right to accept, modify, postpone, or reject a Special Issue proposal based on scholarly relevance, quality, editorial feasibility, and available resources.

21. Archiving and Preservation

The journal is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published scholarly record.

Published articles and associated metadata should be preserved through appropriate digital archiving and repository mechanisms consistent with the journal's technical capacity and applicable open-access standards.

22. Advertising and Commercial Activities

Any advertising or commercial activity associated with the journal shall be clearly separated from editorial decision-making.

Advertising, sponsorship, or other commercial relationships shall not influence the selection, peer review, acceptance, rejection, or publication of manuscripts.

The journal does not accept advertisements or sponsorship arrangements that compromise editorial independence or academic integrity.

23. Editorial Independence and Integrity

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board retain responsibility for editorial decisions.

Neither the publisher nor external parties may interfere with editorial judgments based on scholarly considerations.

The journal is committed to fairness, transparency, academic freedom, confidentiality, inclusiveness, and the integrity of the scholarly record.

24. Policy Review

IEJR periodically reviews its journal policies to ensure continued alignment with developments in international scholarly publishing, research integrity, open-access practices, publication ethics, and responsible use of emerging technologies.

The journal may revise its policies when necessary. Significant policy changes will be communicated transparently through the journal's official platform.
