Article Processing Charges

Indonesian Economic Justice Review (IEJR) is an open-access academic journal committed to providing immediate and unrestricted access to all published articles. To support the editorial, peer-review, production, publishing, digital preservation, and maintenance of the journal, IEJR applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to manuscripts accepted for publication.

1. Article Processing Charge

The Article Processing Charge for each accepted article is:

IDR 5,000,000 (Five Million Indonesian Rupiah) per article.

The APC applies only to manuscripts that have been formally accepted for publication following the journal's editorial and peer-review process.

There is no submission fee. Authors are not required to pay any fee when submitting a manuscript or during the initial editorial and peer-review process.

2. What the APC Covers

The APC supports the costs associated with:

  • Editorial administration and manuscript processing;
  • Double-anonymous peer-review management;
  • Copyediting and language editing;
  • Layout and typesetting;
  • DOI registration and metadata management;
  • Online publication and hosting;
  • Digital preservation and archiving;
  • Open-access dissemination;
  • Website and journal platform maintenance; and
  • Other activities necessary to maintain the quality and sustainability of the journal.

Payment of the APC does not influence editorial decisions or guarantee acceptance.

3. Payment and Timing

APC payment is requested only after a manuscript has received a final acceptance decision.

Authors should not make any payment before receiving an official APC invoice or payment instruction from the journal.

The article will proceed to publication after the required publication-processing procedures have been completed.

4. No Relationship Between Payment and Editorial Decision

IEJR maintains a strict separation between editorial decision-making and financial considerations.

The ability or willingness of an author to pay the APC shall not influence the peer-review process, editorial assessment, acceptance, rejection, or academic quality of a manuscript.

Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and compliance with the journal's editorial and ethical standards.

5. Waivers and Discounts

IEJR recognizes that APCs may create financial barriers for some authors.

The journal may consider partial or full APC waivers or discounts in exceptional circumstances, particularly where authors demonstrate genuine financial hardship or come from institutions or countries with limited access to research funding.

Requests for a waiver or discount must be submitted to the journal before payment and should include a clear justification.

A waiver request will be considered independently of the editorial evaluation of the manuscript. Requesting or receiving a waiver shall not negatively affect the peer-review or editorial decision.

6. Special Issues

Articles submitted to or accepted for a Special Issue are subject to the same APC policy as articles published in regular issues, unless the journal explicitly announces a different arrangement for a particular Special Issue.

Any special APC arrangement, waiver, or sponsorship shall be transparently communicated to participating authors.

7. Refund Policy

Because the APC is charged only after final acceptance and is associated with publication-related services, payments are generally non-refundable once publication production has commenced.

If an article is withdrawn by the journal due to an editorial or ethical issue attributable to the journal, the publisher may review the circumstances and determine whether a refund is appropriate.

Where an article is retracted after publication because of author misconduct, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other serious breaches of publication ethics, the APC will generally not be refunded.

8. Transparency

IEJR publicly discloses its APC and related publication charges to ensure transparency for authors and readers.

No undisclosed publication fees will be imposed on authors.

Any changes to the APC policy will be announced publicly and will apply prospectively to manuscripts submitted after the effective date of the revised policy.

9. Copyright and Open Access

Payment of the APC does not transfer copyright to the journal or publisher.

Copyright remains with the authors without restriction, and all published articles are made immediately and freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The APC therefore supports the journal's open-access publishing infrastructure while allowing authors to retain ownership of their intellectual work.

10. Currency

The standard APC is stated in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

Where payment is made from outside Indonesia, the journal may provide an equivalent amount in another currency based on the applicable exchange rate or payment platform used at the time of payment. Any applicable transaction or bank charges shall be communicated to the author in advance.

Current APC: IDR 5,000,000 per accepted article.
