Article Processing Charges

The Indonesian Court and Justice Review (ICJR) operates under an open access publishing model. To support the editorial, peer review, production, digital publishing, archiving, and dissemination of scholarly articles, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 5,000,000 (five million Indonesian rupiah) per accepted article.

1. APC Amount

The Article Processing Charge is:

IDR 5,000,000 (five million Indonesian rupiah) per accepted article.

The APC applies to manuscripts that have successfully completed the editorial and peer review process and have received a final decision of acceptance for publication.

2. When the APC Is Charged

The APC is not charged at the time of manuscript submission.

Authors are only requested to pay the APC after the manuscript has received a formal acceptance decision from the Editorial Board.

The payment of an APC does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

Editorial decisions are made independently of an author's ability or willingness to pay publication charges.

3. No Submission Fee

ICJR does not charge authors a submission fee.

Authors may submit manuscripts and participate in the editorial and peer review process without making any payment.

The APC becomes applicable only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

4. What the APC Covers

The APC supports the costs associated with the publication and dissemination of accepted articles, including:

  • editorial and administrative processing;

  • management of the peer review process;

  • manuscript preparation and production;

  • copyediting and typesetting where applicable;

  • online publication;

  • article metadata and DOI registration;

  • digital hosting;

  • long-term digital preservation and archiving; and

  • dissemination and accessibility of published articles.

Payment of the APC does not affect the academic evaluation of a manuscript.

5. Open Access

All articles for which the applicable APC has been paid are published under the journal's Open Access Policy.

The final published version is made freely accessible online without subscription or paywall restrictions.

The APC therefore supports the journal's commitment to immediate and unrestricted access to published research.

6. Copyright

Payment of the APC does not result in the transfer of copyright from the author to ICJR.

In accordance with the journal's Copyright and Author Rights Policy, authors retain copyright in their published work.

The journal receives only the non-exclusive rights necessary to publish, distribute, preserve, index, and make the article available as part of its scholarly publishing activities.

7. Article Licensing

Articles are published under the licensing terms specified in the journal's Copyright and Open Access Policies.

Where the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license applies, readers may share and adapt the published work in accordance with the terms of that license, including with appropriate attribution.

The APC does not alter the author's ownership of copyright.

8. Waivers and Discounts

ICJR may consider a full or partial APC waiver or discount in exceptional circumstances, including demonstrated financial hardship or other circumstances determined appropriate by the Editorial Board.

Requests for an APC waiver or discount must be made before or during the submission process and should not be based on the anticipated editorial decision.

Any waiver or discount decision is made independently of the peer review and editorial decision-making process.

The availability of a waiver does not create an entitlement to publication.

9. Institutional or Funding Support

Authors may use institutional funding, research grants, project funding, or other legitimate sources of financial support to cover the APC.

Where applicable, authors are responsible for complying with the terms and conditions of their funding organization.

10. Multiple Authors

The APC is charged per accepted article, not per author.

For articles with multiple authors, the authors may determine among themselves how the APC is paid.

The journal does not require each individual author to make a separate payment.

11. Refund Policy

APC payments are generally non-refundable once publication production has commenced.

If an article is withdrawn after acceptance but before publication, the Editorial Board may consider a refund request on a case-by-case basis, depending on the circumstances and the stage of production.

No refund will normally be provided where withdrawal results from author-initiated reasons after substantial publication work has been undertaken.

If an article is retracted after publication because of author misconduct, ethical violations, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of publication misconduct, the APC will not ordinarily be refunded.

12. No Influence on Editorial Decisions

Payment or the ability to pay an APC has no influence on editorial decisions.

Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their:

  • originality;

  • academic significance;

  • relevance to the journal's scope;

  • theoretical contribution;

  • methodological rigor;

  • quality of analysis;

  • scholarly contribution; and

  • compliance with research and publication ethics.

Editors and peer reviewers do not make acceptance decisions based on whether an author has paid or is willing to pay the APC.

13. Transparency of Charges

The APC amount and applicable conditions are publicly disclosed on the journal's website before manuscript submission.

ICJR does not impose undisclosed mandatory publication charges.

If additional charges become applicable under exceptional circumstances, the authors will be informed in advance and will be given appropriate information concerning the basis of such charges.

14. APC and Special Issues

Articles accepted for publication in Special Issues are subject to the same APC policy as articles published in regular issues unless the journal publicly announces a specific waiver or alternative arrangement for the particular Special Issue.

Any APC waiver or discount applicable to a Special Issue will be clearly disclosed to prospective authors.

15. Currency and Payment

The standard APC is stated in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

Where payment from outside Indonesia is required, the journal may provide an equivalent amount in another currency based on an applicable exchange rate at the time of payment.

Payment instructions will be provided by the journal after formal acceptance.

Authors should not make payments to individuals or accounts that are not officially designated by the journal.

16. No Pay-to-Publish Model

ICJR distinguishes between an APC and a pay-to-publish model.

Payment of the APC is not a condition for obtaining favorable peer review or editorial treatment. An article becomes eligible for APC payment only after it has successfully passed the journal's editorial and peer review process and has received a formal acceptance decision.

The journal's academic standards and publication ethics apply equally to all authors regardless of their ability to pay.

17. Policy Statement

The Indonesian Court and Justice Review charges an Article Processing Charge of IDR 5,000,000 per accepted article to support the costs of open access scholarly publishing.

The APC:

  • is not charged upon submission;

  • is charged only after acceptance;

  • does not guarantee acceptance;

  • does not influence editorial or peer review decisions;

  • is charged per article, not per author;

  • supports the production and dissemination of the published article; and

  • does not transfer copyright ownership from the author to the journal.
