Open Access Policy

Indonesian Sports Justice Review is committed to promoting the broad and equitable dissemination of scholarly knowledge. The journal adopts an Open Access policy, under which all published articles are made freely available to readers without subscription or paywall restrictions.

The journal considers open access an important mechanism for facilitating the global exchange of scholarly knowledge, supporting academic collaboration, and increasing the accessibility and potential impact of research in sports law, sports justice, sports governance, and related interdisciplinary fields.

1. Immediate Open Access

All articles published by Indonesian Sports Justice Review are made openly accessible immediately upon publication.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, search, and use the published articles in accordance with the applicable copyright and licensing terms without requiring a subscription or individual payment.

The journal does not impose subscription fees or access charges on readers.

2. Reader Access

Readers are not required to:

  • register for an account;
  • pay a subscription fee;
  • purchase individual articles; or
  • obtain special permission to access published content for legitimate scholarly purposes.

The journal aims to ensure that published research is accessible to researchers, students, practitioners, policymakers, legal professionals, sports organizations, and the broader public.

3. Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain the copyright to their scholarly work unless otherwise expressly stated in the journal's publishing agreement.

Authors grant the journal the necessary rights to publish, distribute, preserve, and make the article publicly available under the journal's applicable open-access license.

The journal does not require authors to transfer ownership of copyright solely as a condition of publication.

4. Open Access Licensing

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons license specified by the journal.

Unless otherwise stated on the individual article, the journal applies a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.

Under the CC BY license, readers may share, copy, redistribute, adapt, transform, and build upon the published material for lawful purposes, including commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the source is properly cited, and any changes are indicated where applicable.

The exact license applied to each article shall be clearly displayed on the article's landing page and within the published article.

5. No Subscription Charges

The journal does not operate under a subscription-based access model.

All published scholarly content is freely available online without requiring institutional or individual subscriptions.

6. Article Processing Charges

Any applicable Article Processing Charge (APC) or publication fee shall be clearly disclosed on the journal's official website before manuscript submission.

If the journal does not charge APCs, the journal shall clearly state that no article processing or publication fee is charged to authors.

Any applicable fee shall be independent of the editorial decision-making process.

Payment of an APC does not guarantee acceptance or publication of a manuscript.

7. Waivers and Discounts

Where applicable, the journal may provide fee waivers or discounts based on clearly stated eligibility criteria.

Any waiver or discount policy shall be applied transparently and shall not influence the editorial evaluation, peer-review process, or publication decision.

The journal shall not use financial considerations as a basis for accepting or rejecting scholarly work.

8. Author Self-Archiving

Authors are encouraged to share their published work through legitimate scholarly communication channels, including:

  • institutional repositories;
  • subject repositories;
  • academic repositories;
  • personal or institutional webpages; and
  • other recognized scholarly platforms,

subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license and relevant copyright requirements.

Authors should provide an accurate citation and link to the official published version whenever the article is deposited or shared elsewhere.

9. Repository and Third-Party Sharing

The journal supports the lawful dissemination of published articles through institutional and disciplinary repositories.

Third parties may also redistribute or reuse published content in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license, provided that the original author, article, journal, and source are appropriately acknowledged.

10. Accessibility and Long-Term Availability

The journal is committed to maintaining continuous and reliable access to published articles.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve its published scholarly content through appropriate digital archiving and preservation mechanisms.

Where technically and institutionally feasible, the journal may participate in recognized digital preservation or repository services to support long-term availability.

11. Open Access and Editorial Independence

Open access status and any applicable publication charges shall not influence editorial decisions.

Manuscripts are evaluated based on scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field.

Editors and reviewers must maintain editorial independence and must not make decisions based on an author's ability or inability to pay publication fees.

12. Transparency of Fees

The journal shall clearly disclose all author-facing charges associated with publication.

The following information shall be made publicly available where applicable:

  • Article Processing Charges;
  • submission fees;
  • article publication fees;
  • language or editing charges, if any;
  • supplementary service charges, if any;

  • circumstances under which fees may be charged.

The journal does not impose hidden publication or access fees.

13. Ethical and Legal Reuse

Open access does not eliminate the requirement to respect academic integrity, copyright, privacy, confidentiality, research ethics, and applicable law.

Users of published material must provide appropriate attribution and must not misrepresent the original work or its authors.

Where third-party content within an article is not covered by the article's Creative Commons license, the relevant rights statement shall be identified where possible.

14. Open Access and Research Impact

The journal supports open access as a means of increasing the visibility, accessibility, discoverability, and potential scholarly and societal impact of published research.

By removing subscription barriers, the journal seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange among researchers and practitioners across different countries and institutional settings.
