Article Processing Charges

Indonesian Sports Justice Review operates an open-access publishing model in which published articles are freely available to readers. To support the editorial, peer-review, production, hosting, digital preservation, and publication infrastructure of the journal, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applicable to accepted articles.

1. Article Processing Charge

The APC for an accepted article is:

IDR 5,000,000 (five million Indonesian Rupiah) per article.

The APC applies only to manuscripts that have successfully completed the journal's editorial assessment and peer-review process and have received a formal decision of acceptance.

There is no submission fee for submitting a manuscript to the journal.

2. When the APC Is Charged

Authors are not required to pay any APC at the time of submission.

The APC is charged only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

Payment of the APC does not influence:

  • editorial screening;
  • peer-review decisions;
  • acceptance or rejection;
  • the number of reviewers assigned;
  • editorial priority; or
  • publication scheduling.

An APC payment is therefore not a guarantee of acceptance or publication.

3. What the APC Supports

The APC supports the operational costs associated with scholarly publication, including, as applicable:

  • editorial administration;
  • manuscript processing;
  • peer-review administration;
  • copyediting and language-quality processes;
  • typesetting and article production;
  • online publication and website infrastructure;
  • DOI registration and metadata management;
  • digital preservation and archiving;
  • indexing and discoverability infrastructure; and
  • maintenance of the journal's open-access publishing platform.

The APC does not constitute a payment for favorable editorial treatment or peer-review outcomes.

4. Open Access

All articles for which the APC has been paid and which are formally published by the journal are made available under the journal's open-access model.

Published articles are freely accessible to readers without subscription or pay-per-view charges.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, subject to the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy.

5. Copyright Retention

Payment of an APC does not require authors to transfer copyright to the journal.

Authors retain copyright in their published articles in accordance with the journal's copyright-retention policy.

The APC covers publication services and does not constitute a purchase or transfer of copyright ownership.

6. No Additional Mandatory Publication Charges

The standard APC is IDR 5,000,000 per accepted article.

The journal does not impose hidden mandatory publication charges.

Any additional optional service or charge, if introduced, shall be clearly communicated to authors before the service is provided.

Authors will not be required to purchase additional services as a condition of acceptance or publication.

7. Waiver and Discount Policy

The journal may consider a full or partial APC waiver or discount in exceptional circumstances, subject to clearly defined criteria and available resources.

Requests for a waiver or discount should be submitted to the editorial office before or at the time of submission where possible.

APC waiver or discount requests are handled independently of the editorial assessment and peer-review process.

Editors and reviewers should not use an author's financial circumstances as a factor in evaluating the scholarly quality of a manuscript.

8. Institutional or Third-Party Payment

The APC may be paid by:

  • the author;
  • the author's institution;
  • a research funder;
  • a sponsoring organization; or
  • another legitimate third party authorized by the author.

The identity of the payer does not affect editorial decisions.

9. Refunds and Withdrawal

Once an article has been formally accepted, authors who subsequently withdraw the manuscript should contact the editorial office immediately.

Any refund or cancellation of an APC will be considered according to the circumstances of the withdrawal and the stage of the publication process.

Where publication services have already been substantially provided, the journal may determine that the APC is non-refundable.

The journal will not charge an APC for manuscripts that are rejected before acceptance.

10. Post-Acceptance Editorial Decisions

Acceptance of a manuscript is based on academic and editorial considerations, including originality, relevance, scholarly quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and peer-review outcomes.

An APC does not provide authors with any right to alter or influence the editorial decision after acceptance.

The journal retains the right to postpone publication or take appropriate corrective action if serious ethical or scholarly concerns emerge after acceptance and before publication.

11. Transparency of Publication Fees

The APC amount is publicly disclosed on the journal's official website so that authors can determine the applicable publication cost before submitting a manuscript.

The journal is committed to maintaining transparency concerning publication fees and will clearly communicate any future changes to the APC.

Any revised APC will apply according to the effective date announced by the journal.

12. Ethical Considerations

The existence of an APC does not alter the journal's commitment to publication ethics.

All manuscripts are subject to the journal's applicable policies concerning:

  • publication ethics;
  • plagiarism prevention;
  • authorship and contributorship;
  • conflicts of interest;
  • peer review;
  • research ethics;
  • corrections and retractions; and
  • responsible use of artificial intelligence.

The journal's editorial decisions remain independent of financial considerations.

13. APC and Editorial Independence

The journal maintains a strict separation between financial administration and editorial decision-making.

Editors and peer reviewers must evaluate manuscripts based on scholarly merit and the journal's established editorial criteria.

The ability or inability of an author to pay the APC must not determine whether a manuscript is accepted.

Where an APC waiver is granted, the manuscript must undergo the same editorial and peer-review standards as manuscripts for which the full APC is paid.

14. APC for Special Issues

Articles accepted for special issues are subject to the same standard APC of:

IDR 5,000,000 per accepted article.

Special issue status does not guarantee acceptance and does not exempt an article from the journal's peer-review and publication-ethics requirements.

Any special APC arrangement must be transparently disclosed to participating authors before publication.

15. Policy Statement

Indonesian Sports Justice Review charges an Article Processing Charge of IDR 5,000,000 per accepted article to support the sustainable operation and publication of its open-access journal.

The journal follows the following principles:

  • No submission fee is charged.
  • APC is charged only after acceptance.
  • APC does not influence editorial decisions.
  • Authors retain copyright.
  • Articles are published under CC BY 4.0.
  • Published articles are freely accessible to readers.
  • No hidden mandatory publication fees are imposed.
  • Waiver or discount requests, where available, are handled independently of editorial decisions.

The journal may periodically review its APC to ensure that publication charges remain transparent, reasonable, and proportionate to the services provided.
