Copyrights and Licensing Policy

Palestine Issues on Indonesian Society is committed to protecting authors’ rights while promoting broad and responsible dissemination of scholarly research. The journal adopts a transparent copyright and licensing policy consistent with the principles of open access and international scholarly publishing practices.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their original scholarly work published in Palestine Issues on Indonesian Society, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

The manuscript is their original work.
They have the legal authority to grant the journal the rights necessary for publication and dissemination.
The manuscript has not been published previously in substantially the same form, unless appropriately disclosed and permitted.
The manuscript does not infringe the copyright, intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.

2. License to Publish

Upon acceptance and publication, authors grant Palestine Issues on Indonesian Society a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, archive, and make the article publicly available in electronic and other appropriate formats.

This license allows the journal to:

Publish the article on its official journal platform and website.
Include the article in journal issues and digital archives.
Distribute the article through scholarly databases, indexing services, repositories, and other appropriate academic platforms.
Preserve the article through digital preservation and archiving systems.

The license granted to the journal does not transfer ownership of copyright from the author to the journal.

3. Creative Commons Licensing

Under a CC BY 4.0 license, readers and other users may:

4. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

Retain copyright ownership of their work.
Share and distribute their published article in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.
Deposit the published version or an appropriate version of the article in institutional, subject-based, or other legitimate repositories.
Use the article for teaching, research, academic presentations, and other scholarly purposes, subject to the applicable license.

5. Third-Party Copyright and Materials

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted materials belonging to third parties when such permission is required.

Third-party materials may include:

Photographs and other images.
Figures, tables, and illustrations.
Maps and diagrams.
Extended quotations.
Previously published datasets or materials.
Audio-visual or multimedia materials.

Authors must provide appropriate attribution and indicate any applicable permissions or licensing conditions.

The journal may request evidence of permission before publication.

6. Moral Rights and Attribution

Nothing in this policy is intended to remove or limit authors’ moral rights where such rights are recognized by applicable law.

Authors must be properly identified as the creators of their work, and subsequent users of the article must provide appropriate attribution in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license and scholarly citation practices.

7. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions:

Do not contain unauthorized copyrighted material.
Properly acknowledge the sources of quotations, data, figures, images, and other materials.
Comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
Clearly disclose materials for which third-party permission has been obtained.
Respect the licensing conditions of any external material incorporated into the manuscript.

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in publication delays, correction, withdrawal, or other appropriate editorial action.

8. Open Access and Reuse

All articles published by Palestine Issues on Indonesian Society are made openly accessible in accordance with the journal's Open Access Policy.

Open access means that readers may access published articles without subscription or paywall restrictions. Open access does not eliminate copyright protection; rather, it provides a framework under which copyrighted scholarly works may be accessed and reused according to the applicable license.

9. Repository and Self-Archiving

Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in:

Repository copies should retain the correct bibliographic information and provide attribution to the original publication in Palestine Issues on Indonesian Society.

10. Copyright Infringement

Any licensing information stated on the article's official publication page constitutes the applicable licensing information for that article.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to ensure that copyright ownership, licensing terms, and reuse conditions are clearly displayed and accurately communicated.

12. Editorial and Legal Responsibility

The journal does not claim ownership of authors’ intellectual property merely by publishing their work. The journal's role is to facilitate scholarly publication, dissemination, preservation, and access while respecting the legal and intellectual rights of authors and third parties.

Where copyright or licensing disputes arise, the journal will seek to handle them fairly, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal and ethical standards.
