Journal Policy

The Indonesian Minority Justice Review (IMJR) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to promoting high-quality, original, and ethically conducted scholarship on minority rights, legal recognition, equality, and social justice in Indonesia and comparable multicultural societies.

IMJR maintains rigorous editorial and peer review standards and is committed to academic integrity, editorial independence, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. All manuscripts are evaluated in accordance with the journal's Focus and Scope, Peer Review Policy, Publication Ethics, and other applicable journal policies.

1. Types of Publications

IMJR publishes the following types of scholarly contributions:

1.1 Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present substantial and original theoretical, doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, comparative, or interdisciplinary research. Articles should clearly articulate a research problem, engage critically with relevant literature, employ appropriate research methods, and demonstrate a significant contribution to scholarship.

1.2 Review Articles

Review Articles provide a critical and systematic examination of existing scholarship on a significant topic within the journal's scope. Review articles should synthesize relevant literature, identify major debates or research gaps, and offer a clear scholarly contribution rather than merely summarize previous studies.

1.3 Conceptual and Theoretical Articles

Conceptual and Theoretical Articles develop, examine, or critically reassess concepts, theories, analytical frameworks, or legal approaches relevant to minority rights and social justice. Such articles should demonstrate clear theoretical significance and contribute to the development of scholarly debates.

1.4 Comparative and Socio-Legal Studies

IMJR welcomes Comparative and Socio-Legal Studies that examine the interaction between law and society or compare legal and institutional approaches to minority rights across jurisdictions, regions, or multicultural societies. Comparative studies should demonstrate a clear analytical rationale and relevance to the journal's core themes.

1.5 Special Issue Articles

IMJR may publish Special Issues focusing on specific themes, emerging areas of scholarship, or significant interdisciplinary debates relevant to minority rights, law, and social justice.

Articles submitted to a Special Issue are subject to the same standards of editorial assessment, peer review, research integrity, and publication ethics as articles submitted to regular issues.

1.6 Editorials and Scholarly Commentaries

The journal may publish Editorials and Scholarly Commentaries addressing important developments, emerging debates, landmark legal developments, policy issues, or significant events related to the journal's field.

Such contributions may be invited or accepted at the discretion of the Editorial Team and may not necessarily undergo the same external peer review process as Original Research Articles.

2. Publication Frequency

IMJR is published quarterly, with four regular issues each year:

• January

• April

• July

• October

Special Issues may be published separately from the regular quarterly schedule, subject to editorial approval and the availability of manuscripts that meet the journal's academic standards.

3. Peer Review

IMJR employs a double-anonymous peer review process for eligible scholarly manuscripts. Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or designated Editor based on the reviewers' recommendations and an independent editorial assessment.

4. Academic Integrity and Publication Ethics

IMJR is committed to maintaining high standards of academic and publication integrity. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, peer review manipulation, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Anti-Plagiarism Policies.

5. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, and contribution to knowledge. Decisions are not influenced by nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, institutional affiliation, political position, or commercial interests.

6. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, vulnerable communities, sensitive personal information, or other ethically sensitive materials must comply with applicable ethical requirements.

Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary ethical approval, informed consent, permissions, and other safeguards where applicable.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest. Individuals with conflicts that could compromise the impartiality of the editorial or review process may be excluded from handling or reviewing the relevant manuscript.

8. Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Tools

Authors remain responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical appropriateness of their submissions when using artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Where AI materially contributes to manuscript preparation, authors should disclose such use in accordance with the journal's applicable policy.

9. Corrections and Retractions

IMJR is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record. When significant errors, ethical concerns, or research misconduct are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction as appropriate.

10. Copyright, Licensing, and Access

Copyright, licensing, open-access arrangements, and any applicable publication charges are communicated transparently to authors and readers through the journal website and the relevant article information.

11. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit appeals concerning editorial decisions when they believe that a significant procedural error or factual misunderstanding has materially affected the decision. Complaints concerning editorial procedures, peer review, publication ethics, or other journal matters may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief.

All complaints and appeals will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with applicable publication ethics principles.

12. Digital Preservation

IMJR is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility and preservation of its published scholarly content through appropriate digital archiving and preservation mechanisms.

13. Policy Review

The Editorial Team periodically reviews the journal's policies to ensure continued alignment with developments in scholarly publishing, research ethics, and recognized international standards. Substantive policy changes will be communicated transparently through the journal website.
