Copyright and Licensing Policy

The Indonesian Minority Justice Review (IMJR) is committed to protecting authors' intellectual property rights while promoting the widest possible dissemination and reuse of scholarly research. The journal operates under an author-retained copyright and open licensing model.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright ownership of their published articles without restriction. Authors do not transfer copyright to IMJR as a condition of publication.

By submitting a manuscript, authors authorize IMJR to publish, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, digitally archive, and make the article available as part of the journal's scholarly publication.

This authorization is non-exclusive and does not prevent authors from exercising their copyright or granting additional rights to third parties, subject to the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

2. Creative Commons Licensing

All articles published by IMJR are licensed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The CC BY 4.0 license permits anyone to:

  • copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

  • remix, transform, and build upon the material;

  • use the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

These rights are granted provided that appropriate attribution is given to the original author(s), a link to the CC BY 4.0 license is provided, and any changes to the original material are indicated.

3. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • retain copyright ownership of their work;

  • share and disseminate the published article;

  • deposit the published version in institutional and subject repositories;

  • post the published article on personal or professional websites;

  • distribute the article through academic and research networks;

  • reuse the article or portions of it in future scholarly works;

  • adapt or build upon the work in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license; and

  • grant additional non-exclusive rights to third parties, provided that such arrangements do not restrict the rights granted under CC BY 4.0.

Authors are not required to obtain additional permission from IMJR for uses already permitted under the CC BY 4.0 license.

4. Rights of Readers and Third Parties

Readers and third parties may freely access and reuse published articles under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Permitted uses include reproduction, redistribution, adaptation, translation, text and data mining, and commercial or non-commercial reuse, provided that appropriate attribution is given.

Attribution should identify the author(s), the article title, the journal, the publication information, and the applicable Creative Commons license, together with a link to the license.

5. Attribution Requirement

Any reuse of an IMJR article must provide appropriate credit to the original author(s) and publication.

Users must:

  1. identify the original author(s);

  2. provide an appropriate citation to the original work;

  3. identify IMJR as the original publication venue;

  4. provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license; and

  5. indicate if changes were made to the original material.

Users may not imply that the original author(s) or IMJR endorse the adaptation, modification, or reuse unless such endorsement has been separately authorized.

6. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for identifying any material in their manuscripts that is owned by third parties and is not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license.

Where third-party material is subject to separate copyright or licensing restrictions, authors must obtain the necessary permissions and clearly indicate the applicable rights or restrictions in the published article.

The CC BY 4.0 license applies to the article and its content to the extent that the relevant material is owned by the author(s) and is legally available for licensing under CC BY 4.0.

7. Author Warranties

By submitting a manuscript to IMJR, authors confirm that:

  • they have the necessary rights to submit and publish the work;

  • the manuscript is original or appropriately attributed;

  • publication of the manuscript does not infringe the copyright or other rights of third parties;

  • necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted third-party material where required; and

  • all co-authors have agreed to the submission and publication of the manuscript.

Authors remain responsible for any copyright infringement arising from material included in their submissions.

8. Article Processing Charge and Copyright

Payment of the Article Processing Charge (APC), where applicable, does not constitute a transfer of copyright to IMJR.

The APC covers publication and related editorial and production services. Authors retain copyright regardless of whether an APC is paid.

For IMJR, the applicable APC is IDR 5,000,000 (five million Indonesian Rupiah) per accepted article.

9. Open Access

All articles published by IMJR are made immediately and freely accessible online. No subscription or registration is required to access published articles.

The open access model is supported by the CC BY 4.0 license, which facilitates broad dissemination, lawful reuse, and scholarly communication while preserving attribution to the original authors.

10. Copyright and Licensing Statement

The following statement will appear on published articles and/or article landing pages:

Copyright © [Year] The Author(s). This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The copyright and licensing information may be updated where necessary to reflect changes in applicable law, publishing standards, or journal policy.
