Open Access Policy

Indonesian Health Justice Review (IHJR) is committed to providing immediate and unrestricted open access to all of its published scholarly content. The journal believes that making research freely available to the public supports the advancement of knowledge, encourages scholarly communication, and increases the accessibility and potential impact of academic research.

1. Open Access Statement

All articles published by Indonesian Health Justice Review are made freely available online immediately upon publication, without subscription or access fees for readers.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, search, link to, and otherwise use the published articles in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

There is no requirement for readers to register, subscribe, or pay a fee to access the full text of published articles.

2. Copyright and Licensing

Unless otherwise stated, copyright of articles published in Indonesian Health Justice Review remains with the author(s).

Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which permits others to:

  • share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
  • adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially;

provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated.

Authors retain copyright while granting the journal the right of first publication.

The applicable license information will be clearly displayed on each published article.

3. Author Rights

Authors retain the copyright and other applicable rights in their published work, subject to the terms of the Creative Commons license and the journal's publication agreement.

Authors may:

  • share their published article;
  • deposit the article in institutional or subject repositories;
  • distribute the article through personal or institutional websites;
  • use the article for teaching and educational purposes;
  • use the article in future scholarly works, subject to appropriate acknowledgment; and
  • share the article with colleagues and other members of the scholarly community.

The journal does not impose unnecessary restrictions on the reuse and dissemination of published articles beyond those specified by the applicable Creative Commons license.

4. Reader Access and Reuse

Readers may access and reuse published articles without requesting permission from the journal for activities permitted under the applicable Creative Commons license.

Users must provide appropriate attribution to the author(s), article title, journal, publication information, and applicable license when reusing published material.

Where material within an article is subject to a separate copyright holder or third-party license, the applicable rights information will be identified in the article.

5. Article Processing Charges

The journal's open access model is independent of whether an article is accepted for publication.

If IHJR has no publication fee:

Indonesian Health Justice Review does not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs), submission fees, subscription fees, or other mandatory publication fees to authors.

If IHJR charges an APC:

Indonesian Health Justice Review may charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts. Any applicable APC, including its amount, currency, payment conditions, and possible waivers or discounts, will be clearly stated on the journal website before manuscript submission.

The ability or willingness of an author to pay an APC must not influence editorial decisions.

6. No Pay-to-Publish

Open access publication does not mean that authors can purchase publication.

All manuscripts must meet the journal's editorial, academic, ethical, and peer-review requirements regardless of the author's institution, country, funding status, or ability to pay any publication-related fee.

Payment of an APC, where applicable, does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

7. Long-Term Access and Preservation

The journal is committed to maintaining long-term access to its published scholarly content.

Published articles will be preserved through appropriate digital archiving and preservation mechanisms to ensure continued accessibility in the event of changes to the journal's publishing platform or website.

The journal may participate in recognized digital preservation or repository services appropriate to its publishing infrastructure.

8. Open Access and Research Dissemination

The journal encourages authors to maximize the responsible dissemination of their research through institutional repositories, academic networks, personal or institutional websites, and other appropriate scholarly channels.

Open access publication is intended to facilitate:

  • broader access to scholarly knowledge;
  • international scholarly communication;
  • educational use;
  • interdisciplinary research;
  • evidence-based policy development; and
  • greater visibility and potential impact of published research.

9. Transparency of Open Access Conditions

The journal will clearly communicate its open access conditions, including:

  • whether all content is immediately open access;
  • the applicable Creative Commons license;
  • copyright ownership;
  • author rights;
  • applicable publication charges;
  • waiver or discount policies, where available; and
  • digital preservation arrangements.

These conditions will be publicly available on the journal website and will not be hidden behind the submission or payment process.

10. Open Access Commitment

Indonesian Health Justice Review is committed to maintaining an equitable and transparent open access publishing model.

The journal does not restrict access to published articles through subscriptions or paywalls and seeks to ensure that scholarly knowledge published by the journal remains accessible to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students, and the wider public.
