About the Journal

The Indonesian Health Justice Review (IHJR) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring the critical relationship between law, health policy, and social justice in Indonesia. The journal seeks to address the growing need for scholarly analysis of how legal frameworks, health systems, and public policies intersect to promote health equity, improve access to healthcare, and safeguard the fundamental right to health for all citizens, particularly the marginalized and vulnerable.

Indonesia’s healthcare system faces significant challenges, including access disparities, financing issues, infrastructural constraints, and social determinants of health. At the same time, legal and regulatory structures play a pivotal role in shaping public health outcomes, both in urban and rural areas. IHJR aims to provide a platform for rigorous research on the ways in which laws and policies can either mitigate or exacerbate health inequities, particularly for low-income groups, indigenous communities, persons with disabilities, women, and rural populations.

The journal welcomes contributions from a wide range of academic disciplines, including health law, public health, human rights law, medical ethics, sociology, political science, and economics. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the Indonesian Health Justice Review strives to provide a holistic understanding of health justice, encompassing both the legal dimensions of health policy and the socio-economic and cultural factors influencing healthcare access and outcomes.
