Article Processing Charges

The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Studies (IACS) is committed to providing immediate and unrestricted open access to all published articles. To support the editorial, peer review, production, hosting, digital preservation, and publication services required to maintain the journal, IACS operates an Article Processing Charge (APC) model.

1. Article Processing Charge

An Article Processing Charge of IDR 5,000,000 (five million Indonesian Rupiah) is applicable to each article that has been formally accepted for publication in IACS.

The APC applies to articles accepted for publication following the journal's editorial assessment and peer review process.

2. No Submission Fee

IACS does not charge a submission fee.

Authors may submit manuscripts and undergo the editorial and peer review process without making any payment.

The APC becomes applicable only after a manuscript has received a formal acceptance decision.

3. Payment and Editorial Decision

Payment of the APC has no influence on the editorial or peer review decision.

Manuscripts are evaluated exclusively on the basis of:

  • scholarly quality;

  • originality;

  • relevance to the journal's Focus and Scope;

  • methodological rigor;

  • academic contribution;

  • ethical compliance; and

  • suitability for publication.

An author's ability or inability to pay the APC must not determine whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected.

4. When the APC Is Charged

The APC is charged only after formal acceptance of the manuscript.

Authors should not make payment before receiving an official acceptance notification from the journal.

The Editorial Team or designated journal administration will provide the payment instructions after acceptance.

5. What the APC Supports

The APC contributes to the costs associated with maintaining and publishing the journal, including where applicable:

  • editorial administration;

  • manuscript management;

  • peer review administration;

  • copyediting and proofreading;

  • typesetting and article production;

  • digital publication;

  • online hosting;

  • DOI and metadata services;

  • digital preservation and archiving;

  • website and publishing infrastructure; and

  • other operational costs associated with scholarly publication.

Payment of the APC does not constitute payment for acceptance or guarantee publication.

6. Open Access

Payment of the APC enables IACS to maintain its full open access publishing model.

Published articles are made immediately and freely accessible to readers without subscription or access fees.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, allowing broad reuse in accordance with the terms of the license.

7. Copyright

Payment of the APC does not transfer copyright to IACS.

Authors retain full copyright of their published articles without restriction.

The APC is a publication fee and does not constitute an assignment or transfer of copyright.

8. Waivers and Discounts

IACS may consider requests for an APC waiver or partial reduction in cases of demonstrated financial hardship or other exceptional circumstances.

Any waiver or discount request should be submitted to the Editorial Office before or at the time of submission, unless otherwise specified by the journal.

Requests for financial assistance are assessed independently from the editorial and peer review process.

Editors and reviewers are not involved in financial decisions concerning APC waivers where such separation is necessary to protect editorial independence.

9. No Guarantee of Acceptance

Payment of an APC, whether before or after submission, does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

IACS does not accept payment in exchange for favorable peer review or editorial treatment.

All manuscripts must satisfy the journal's academic, methodological, ethical, and editorial requirements.

10. Refunds

Where an article has been accepted but cannot subsequently be published due to circumstances attributable to the journal, the Editorial Team may consider an appropriate refund or other arrangement.

APC refunds are not normally provided where publication cannot proceed because of circumstances attributable to the authors, including withdrawal after acceptance, failure to provide required revisions or documentation, or breach of publication ethics.

Refund requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

11. Changes to APC

IACS reserves the right to revise its APC in the future to reflect changes in publishing, production, infrastructure, preservation, or operational costs.

Any change to the APC will be clearly communicated through the journal's official website and will apply prospectively.

Unless otherwise stated, manuscripts already formally accepted before an APC change will be subject to the APC applicable at the time of acceptance.

12. Transparency of Publication Charges

IACS is committed to transparency regarding publication fees.

The current APC is publicly stated on the journal website so that authors can understand the financial conditions of publication before submitting a manuscript.

The journal does not impose hidden publication charges.

Any additional charge that may apply to a particular service or circumstance will be communicated to the authors before the charge is incurred.

13. Financial Transparency and Editorial Independence

IACS maintains a clear distinction between financial administration and editorial decision-making.

The payment or non-payment of an APC must not influence:

  • reviewer selection;

  • peer review outcomes;

  • editorial decisions;

  • publication priority; or

  • the academic assessment of a manuscript.

The journal is committed to ensuring that its financial model does not compromise the integrity, fairness, or independence of the editorial process.

14. Applicable Currency

The standard APC is stated in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

Where international authors are permitted to make payment in another currency, the journal may provide an equivalent amount based on an applicable exchange rate or payment arrangement communicated by the journal.

15. Contact Regarding APC

Questions concerning APC payment, invoices, waivers, discounts, or other financial matters should be directed to the journal's designated administrative or editorial contact.

Financial inquiries will be handled separately from the academic evaluation of submitted manuscripts wherever possible.

The payment of an APC is never a substitute for academic quality, rigorous peer review, research integrity, or editorial independence.
