Copyrights and Licensing Policy

The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Studies (IACS) is committed to protecting authors' rights while facilitating the broad dissemination, accessibility, and responsible reuse of scholarly research.

IACS operates under an author-retained copyright model and publishes all articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright of their published articles without restriction.

Copyright is not transferred or assigned to IACS, its Editorial Team, or its publisher as a condition of publication.

The authors remain the copyright holders of their work and retain all rights not expressly restricted by applicable law or by the terms of the Creative Commons license.

Publication in IACS does not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership.

2. License for Published Articles

All articles published by IACS are distributed under the:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

The CC BY 4.0 license permits others to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the published work for any lawful purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given.

The license applies to the article as published by IACS, subject to any separately identified third-party material.

3. Permitted Reuse

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users may:

  • read and download the article;

  • copy and redistribute the article;

  • share the article through websites and repositories;

  • reproduce the article in other media or formats;

  • translate the article;

  • adapt or transform the work;

  • use the work for educational purposes;

  • incorporate the work into other scholarly research;

  • include the work in academic or institutional repositories; and

  • use the work for commercial purposes,

provided that appropriate attribution is given and the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license are respected.

4. Attribution Requirements

Any reuse of an IACS article should provide appropriate credit to the original authors and publication.

Attribution should, where reasonably practicable, include:

  • the name(s) of the author(s);

  • the title of the article;

  • the journal name;

  • publication details;

  • a reference or link to the original publication;

  • a reference or link to the CC BY 4.0 license; and

  • an indication of whether changes were made to the original material.

Users must not imply that the original authors or IACS endorse the reuse unless such endorsement has been expressly authorized.

5. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • share their published articles;

  • distribute the Version of Record;

  • deposit the article in institutional and subject repositories;

  • post the article on personal or institutional websites;

  • use the article for teaching and educational purposes;

  • include the article in a thesis or dissertation;

  • reuse the article or portions of it in future scholarly work;

  • provide copies to colleagues and research collaborators; and

  • otherwise disseminate and reuse their work in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license.

No additional permission from IACS is required for uses permitted by the applicable license.

6. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights or permissions to include third-party copyrighted material in their manuscripts.

Third-party materials may include:

  • photographs;

  • images;

  • figures;

  • tables;

  • maps;

  • datasets;

  • extensive quotations;

  • previously published materials; and

  • other copyrighted content.

Where third-party material is not covered by the CC BY 4.0 license, the article should clearly identify the applicable copyright or licensing conditions.

Users are responsible for obtaining additional permission where required by law.

7. Author Warranties

By submitting a manuscript to IACS, authors confirm that:

  • they have the necessary rights to submit the work for publication;

  • the manuscript is original or appropriately attributes all sources;

  • publication does not knowingly infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of third parties;

  • necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted third-party materials where required; and

  • all authors have agreed to the submission and publication of the manuscript.

8. Copyright and Open Access

IACS combines author-retained copyright with immediate open access.

The journal does not require authors to surrender copyright in exchange for publication.

Instead, authors grant the public broad reuse rights through the CC BY 4.0 license while retaining copyright ownership.

This model is intended to maximize dissemination and scholarly reuse while ensuring that authors receive appropriate attribution for their intellectual contributions.

9. No Embargo

IACS does not impose an embargo on the sharing or self-archiving of published articles.

Authors may immediately share the published Version of Record through lawful repositories, institutional platforms, personal websites, and other appropriate scholarly communication channels.

10. Article Processing Charge and Copyright

Payment of the Article Processing Charge does not affect copyright ownership.

The APC is an open access publication fee and does not constitute a purchase or transfer of copyright.

Authors retain copyright regardless of whether an APC is paid by the authors, their institution, a funder, or another authorized party.

11. Copyright Notices

The copyright and licensing information associated with each published article should clearly indicate that copyright remains with the author(s) and that the article is distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license.

A standard copyright statement may be presented as follows:

© The Author(s). Published by Indonesian Anti-Corruption Studies. This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

12. Corrections, Retractions, and Copyright

Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions do not alter the underlying copyright ownership of the article.

Where an article is corrected or retracted, the journal may modify or annotate the published record as necessary to preserve the integrity and transparency of the scholarly record.

The original article will normally remain accessible with an appropriate correction or retraction notice.

13. Moral Rights and Attribution

Nothing in the CC BY 4.0 license is intended to waive or otherwise limit rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.

Users must provide appropriate attribution and must not use the work in a manner that falsely suggests endorsement by the authors or IACS.

14. Licensing of Journal Website and Other Materials

The CC BY 4.0 license applies to published scholarly articles unless otherwise stated.

It does not automatically apply to:

  • the IACS logo;

  • journal branding;

  • website design;

  • trademarks;

  • editorial materials;

  • third-party content; or

  • other materials specifically identified as being subject to separate rights.

The applicable rights statement should be consulted for such materials.

15. Licensing and Academic Integrity

The freedom to reuse IACS publications does not remove the obligation to acknowledge the original source.

Unauthorized presentation of another person's work as one's own may constitute plagiarism or other academic misconduct.

Users who reuse IACS content are expected to maintain accurate attribution and comply with applicable academic, ethical, and legal requirements.

16. Commitment to Author Rights and Open Scholarship

IACS recognizes authors as the primary rights holders of their scholarly work.

The journal's copyright and licensing model is designed to balance author ownership, open access, scholarly dissemination, responsible reuse, and attribution.

By retaining copyright and publishing under CC BY 4.0, authors can maximize the reach and impact of their research while maintaining clear recognition of their intellectual contribution.
