Copyrights and Licensing Policy

1. Copyright Ownership

The Indonesian Climate Justice Review respects and protects the intellectual property rights of authors while ensuring broad dissemination of scholarly knowledge through open access publishing.

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles. By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors grant the journal and the Publisher, COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA-Division of People’s Empowerment, Rights, Human Advocacy, and Legal Knowledge Initiative (PERHAKI), a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, reproduce, and communicate the article in electronic and other formats as part of the journal's scholarly publication activities.

The transfer of publishing rights does not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership. Authors remain the legal copyright holders of their work.

2. Creative Commons License

All articles published in the  Indonesian Climate Justice Review are distributed under the terms of the: Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0)

This license permits anyone to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

Users must comply with the following conditions:

  • Provide appropriate credit to the original author(s).

  • Provide proper citation to the published article.

  • Include a link to the Creative Commons license.

  • Indicate if changes were made to the original material.

  • Not imply endorsement by the author(s) or the journal without permission.

3. Author Rights

Authors publishing with the journal retain the following rights:

  • Copyright ownership of their published work.

4. User Rights Under CC BY License

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, readers and third parties may freely:

  • Access and read published articles.

  • Download and store copies of articles.

  • Share articles through any appropriate platform.

  • Translate, adapt, or develop derivative works.

  • Use published materials for academic, educational, research, and commercial purposes.

Any reuse must include proper attribution to the original authors and the journal.

Recommended citation information should include:

  • Author name(s).

  • Article title.

  • Journal name.

  • Publication year.

  • Volume and issue information.

  • DOI or permanent identifier (if available).

5. Author Warranties and Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors confirm that:

  • The submitted work is original.

  • They have obtained permission for any copyrighted materials included in the manuscript.

  • The manuscript does not violate any third-party intellectual property rights.

  • All sources, data, images, tables, and previously published materials are properly acknowledged.

  • All authors have approved the final manuscript.

Authors are responsible for any copyright infringement resulting from unauthorized use of third-party materials.

6. Third-Party Materials

Authors must obtain appropriate permissions when including copyrighted materials that are not covered under fair use, public domain, or compatible open licenses.

Examples of third-party materials requiring permission may include:

  • Figures.

  • Photographs.

  • Maps.

  • Tables.

  • Data visualizations.

  • Previously published text.

Authors must provide evidence of permission when requested by the Editorial Office.

7. Copyright and Open Access Relationship

The journalfollows an open access publishing model in which copyright retention by authors is combined with broad public access through the CC BY 4.0 license.

This approach ensures:

  • Protection of authors' intellectual property rights.

  • Maximum visibility and accessibility of research.

  • Responsible reuse and redistribution of scholarly works.

  • Compliance with international open access principles.

8. Repository and Academic Sharing Rights

Authors are permitted to deposit and share their published articles through:

  • Institutional repositories.

  • Subject repositories.

  • Personal academic websites.

  • Research collaboration platforms.

Such sharing must maintain appropriate attribution and comply with the CC BY 4.0 license requirements.

9. Copyright for Special Issues and Conference-Based Publications

Articles published in Special Issues, including those developed from international seminars, conferences, workshops, or academic collaborations, follow the same copyright ownership and licensing policy as regular journal articles.

Acceptance into a Special Issue does not alter authors' copyright ownership or the application of the CC BY 4.0 license.

10. Publisher Rights and Responsibilities

The Publisher, COLLEGIUM JUSTICIA INDONESIA – Division of People’s Empowerment, Rights, Human Advocacy, and Legal Knowledge Initiative, is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the integrity of published content.

  • Providing permanent access to published articles.

  • Ensuring proper attribution of authorship.

  • Protecting the scholarly record.

  • Managing publication, distribution, and archival processes.

11. Copyright Infringement and Misuse

Any suspected misuse of published content, including:

  • Removal of author attribution.

  • Unauthorized claims of ownership.

  • Misrepresentation of authorship.

  • Use violating CC BY 4.0 conditions.

may be reported to the Editorial Office.

The journal reserves the right to take appropriate action to protect authors' rights and maintain publication integrity.

12. Final Statement

The Indonesian Climate Justice Review adopts the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) to balance the protection of authors' intellectual property rights with the global dissemination of scholarly knowledge. Through this policy, the journal supports transparent, accessible, and responsible academic communication while ensuring that authors receive proper recognition for their scholarly contributions.
