Indonesia’s vast archipelago presents unique challenges in delivering equitable healthcare, particularly to populations residing in remote islands. This paper examines the potential role of telemedicine in bridging health disparities between urban centers and isolated communities. Using a mixed-methods approach, including case studies of telemedicine initiatives in rural and island regions, the research evaluates the effectiveness of digital healthcare solutions in improving access to medical consultations, diagnostics, and ongoing care. Findings suggest that while telemedicine has the potential to overcome geographic barriers, challenges such as limited internet connectivity, low digital literacy, and insufficient infrastructure persist. The study also identifies the need for policy reforms to ensure that telemedicine is integrated into Indonesia’s healthcare system and is accessible to all populations, regardless of their geographic location or socioeconomic status. The paper concludes with recommendations for expanding telemedicine services, improving digital literacy, and developing infrastructure to ensure that Indonesia’s island populations benefit from equitable healthcare services.
