Art education in Indonesia holds significant potential for fostering social justice and cultural awareness among the younger generation. This paper examines how art education in schools, universities, and community programs promotes critical thinking, cultural appreciation, and activism. By focusing on art curricula that include topics such as gender equality, racial justice, environmental issues, and human rights, the study explores how art education can instill values of social responsibility and empathy. The paper also investigates the challenges and opportunities in integrating social justice themes into traditional art education, and how educators and students are using art as a tool for both personal expression and collective social change.
