Indonesia's rich cultural diversity is increasingly threatened by globalization, urbanization, and the erosion of indigenous languages and traditions. This paper examines the role of art in preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage, focusing on traditional arts, crafts, and indigenous languages. It explores how visual arts, performance, and literature are being utilized as tools to document, revitalize, and pass down cultural practices that are at risk of disappearing. By analyzing the work of artists, cultural organizations, and indigenous communities, the paper investigates how art serves as both a form of resistance and a means of safeguarding cultural identity. It also considers the legal and policy frameworks in place to protect Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage and the challenges of balancing preservation with the pressures of modernization.
