Youth Engagement in Anti-Corruption Campaigns: A Sociological Perspective

Youth engagement is increasingly recognized as a vital factor in sustaining anti-corruption efforts and democratic renewal. This paper investigates how Indonesian youth participate in anti-corruption campaigns, exploring their motivations, methods, and perceived impacts from a sociological perspective. Using surveys, focus groups, and content analysis of social media activism, the study examines the role of education, social networks, and digital platforms in shaping youth involvement. Findings suggest that while many young people express strong anti-corruption values and utilize innovative advocacy tools, challenges such as political apathy, limited institutional channels, and socio-economic barriers constrain their full participation. The study highlights the potential of youth as agents of change but underscores the need for inclusive policies that support their engagement. This paper contributes to broader debates on youth and governance by offering empirical insights into how emerging generations in Indonesia negotiate civic responsibility and anti-corruption activism in a transitional democracy.
